Letter to the Editor 5-29
TO THE EDITOR:It was recently brought to my attention that Kim Pettrey, director of Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center, will become an hourly employee. It is my understanding that because of her being an hourly employee, according to Michael Martin, chairman of the Health and Welfare Committee, Kim will no longer be allowed to transport the animals to AARF in Crossville to save their lives. This means euthanasia for approximately 600 dogs and cats per year. The cost of euthanasia is more than the cost of transporting.Kim and her group of volunteers, including my husband and myself, have transported these animals to Crossville.

Ontario unions say hospital COVID plan unsafe
Unions are calling for the Ontario government to reverse its policy that allows hospital workers to return to work while infected with COVID-19. SEIU Healthcare and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represent approximately 100,000 healthcare workers, say the plan is dangerous for patients and staff. The unions wrote to the premier, health minister and chief medical officer of health this week about their concern over the guidance that says health care employees can come back to work while still sick with the virus in some situations to deal with staffing shortages.
